The educator investigates the teacher leader conceptual framework and performance standards to gain a comprehensive understanding of the requirements to be an effective teacher leader.
Through examination of the theoretical frameworks; Teacher-Leadership Skills Framework, Teacher Leader Model Standards, or the Teacher Leadership Competencies, educators will prepare for increased leadership responsibilities. Reflection on leadership skills and attributes will promote a community of professional learning and foster a climate of trust and respect.
This Micro-credential has 5 requirements: Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. You must earn "Demonstrated" for all criteria in the requirements to earn this MC.
ANALYZE
Analyze your role and responsibilities that impact school culture, affect student achievement and promote a professional learning community. Use the Teacher Leader Competencies or Teacher Leader Model Standards as a guide to examine your beliefs and skills to promote leadership that will result in transforming schools to advance student learning and the teaching profession.
DESIGN
Design a teacher leader development plan to guide your work as you develop your skills as a teacher leader. Analyze your results from the teacher leader assessment completed in the previous requirement, to determine your S.M.A.R.T. goal. The teacher leader development plan must include the analysis of your strengths and areas for development and your S.M.A.R.T. goal.
DEVELOP
Develop the action steps on the teacher leader development plan to achieve the S.M.A.R.T goal. Prioritize the skills for development and determine measurable criteria for each action step.
IMPLEMENT
Implement the S.M.A.R.T. goal by following the action steps planned using the Teacher Leadership Development Plan: Action Steps. Identify one development opportunity and upload evidence/artifact of your implementation of the action step. Use established criteria to reflect on implementation and update Teacher Leadership Development Plan as necessary.
EVALUATE
Evaluate the implementation of the Teacher Leadership Development Plan: Action Steps by completing the results column for the priority category.
