The purpose of this self-paced class is to encourage teachers to explore the outstanding museums in their area as educational resources to be captured and put into play to enhance classroom curriculum.
1. Visit four museums in their area
2. Research information about the sites before visiting in order to learn what educational programs and other opportunities are available for their students at the museums. If available, make an appointment to see the director of educational programs.
3. Gather information from the visits and the research to determine if:
a. the sites are worthy of a student field trip
b. classroom lessons can be developed from the experience
4. Evaluate the experience as to its relevance for an educator
