Course Overview
A part of the National Treasures series, The Presidential Libraries courses EDUO 9655-9668 promote comprehension of both the presidency and the American experience. The libraries preserve and provide access to historical materials, support research as well as create interactive programs and exhibits that educate and inspire. Our National Treasures Presidential Library classes give the teacher the opportunity to experience such an education and inspiration. The syllabus may be used for any of the 13 courses in this series.
During this course, you will visit (either in person or virtually) and study the Barack Obama Presidential Library in Chicago, IL.
Course Objectives
The objectives are the same for each of the presidential libraries and reflect the philosophy of the course series.
Assignment Flow:
- visit in person or virtually one of the presidential libraries in this series
- research information about the library before visiting
- ask questions in person during the visit or via email if not attending in person, Dominican University National Treasures Presidential Libraries EDUO 9655-9668 7.21.26
- conduct further research after visiting library
- relate the value of experience of the visit
- communicate how the visit and research brought a better grasp of the American experience
- reflect on the values the content of the library could have for the classroom
