Course Overview
From our own biology to the smartphones in our pockets, science plays a role in every aspect of our lives. For example, trees turn sunlight into stored energy and create the oxygen we need to survive.
Welcome to EDUO 9509 – Photosynthesis. The purpose of this course is to create a thorough well thought out unit on photosynthesis. To that end, participants will not only be provided with resources on photosynthesis, but will also explore the next generation science standards as well as the importance of STEAM in education. By meeting the requirements of this class, participating teachers will earn one semester unit of graduate level extension credit from Dominican University of California, a fully accredited university.
Course Objectives:
After completing this course, you will demonstrate or indicate:
- The importance of STEAM in education
- The standards appropriate for your unit on photosynthesis
- The knowledge required to teach students about photosynthesis
- The ability to create a unit on photosynthesis that engages all students
