Course Overview

From our own biology to the smartphones in our pockets, science plays a role in every aspect of our lives. For example, we are able to see because light from an object can move through space and reach our eyes. Welcome to EDUO 9506 – Light Waves. The purpose of this course is to create a thorough, well thought out unit on light waves. To that end, participants will not only be provided with resources on light waves, but will also explore the next generation science standards as well as the importance of STEAM in education. By meeting the requirements of this class, participating teachers will earn one semester unit of graduate level extension credit from Dominican University of California, a fully accredited university.

Course Objectives:

After completing this course, you will demonstrate or indicate:

  • The importance of STEAM in education
  • The standards appropriate for your unit on light waves
  • The knowledge required to teach students about light waves
  • The ability to create a unit on light waves that engages all students
