Course Overview:
Recognize the vital role of School Library Media Specialists as educational leaders and resource specialists in elementary to high schools.Learn how they can collaborate with other educators to provide equitable access to resources and information for all students. Discover the importance and impact of a Library Media Center’s Physical Appearance, Print and Non-Print resources and the Library Media Center as a classroom and its role in developing a schoolwide reading culture.
Course Objectives:
This course will give students an opportunity to:
- Examine 21st Century School Library Media Centers
- Develop an invaluable collection for a school library
- Gain knowledge of library curriculum
- Learn and Develop student Library Media Center learning activities
- Develop a lasting student-based reading culture
