EDUO 9979: Mindfulness – Cultivating Resilience and Well-Being

Course Overview

Inform teaching practices as you apply mindful awareness practices and social emotional learning to support self-compassion, kindness and emotional regulation.

Explore the following aspects of mindfulness throughout the course: curiosity, mindfulness anchors, senses, mind-body connection, mindfulness of thoughts and emotions, gratitude, self-compassion and perspective.

Course Objectives:

  • Develop and support a regular mindful awareness practice for resilience and wellbeing.
  • Investigate the foundations of mindfulness through experiential practice, journaling and discussion.
  • Apply mindful awareness practices in daily life and professionally, learning to have more mindful communication, connection and relationships.
  • Understand the physiology of stress and how to self-regulate our emotions in order to respond effectively in challenging situations.
  • Recognize our habits of mind and self-talk that often generates more stress and learn to apply components of self-compassion practice.

2022 Spring sessions now open for registration. Please Note: This workshop will be divided into synchronous and asynchronous time. In addition to the weekly online synchronous time listed, you must be available to complete work and, if needed that week, briefly collaborate with colleagues and/or interact with your instructor prior to the next synchronous session. Your instructor will also be available 30 minutes prior and/or after each scheduled Zoom session to answer any questions or allow for further discussions. Finally, it is important to note that you have up to a week after your final synchronous session to complete any outstanding assignments and officially complete the workshop.
